Looking east along Tosaborigawa

There are large planters with flowers in bloom all along the street.

This is the café where I have tea 2-3 times a week with my young Japanese friend, Harukah.

A Buddhist temple. The Japanese are not particularly religious. However, the ones who do practice are primarily Buddhist or Shinto (that said, some were converted to Catholicism by missionaries after World War II). I think that it is interesting that it is here on a commercial street, like an oasis in the desert.

A statue on Mido-suji. This beautiful, wide street has cast metal statues on both sides of it.

This is Shinsaibashi-suji. There are covered shopping streets like this all over Japan. Most of them have several Pachingo parlors on them
Next, I moved 1 block east of Mido-suji, on a street that runs parallel. This is the beginning of Shinsaibashi-suji. This is a covered shopping street that goes on for MANY miles.

Doesn’t this look like a Rexall store from 40 years ago? Except that it is in Japan……

The 100 yen store. 100 yen is about $1.12, so this is like a dollar store.
